This course is divided into seminars and practical classes, giving you the opportunity to balance theoretical learning with hands-on experience.

Seminars

During the seminars, we will cover key topics in urology, providing you with essential theoretical knowledge. Seminars include:

  • Symptoms, Instruments, and Terminology
    This seminar introduces you to the basics of urological terminology and key instruments used in the field.
  • Urolithiasis
    Explore the causes, symptoms, and treatments of urolithiasis (kidney stones).
  • Urological Oncology
    A detailed look at the neoplasms of the kidney, bladder, testis, and penis.
  • Emergencies in Urology
    Learn how to recognize and manage urological emergencies in clinical practice.
  • Diseases of the Prostate – Prostate Cancer
    An in-depth discussion on the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer.
  • Diseases of the Prostate – Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH)
    This seminar focuses on the common condition of BPH and its clinical management.
  • Urinary Incontinence and Functional Disorders
    Understand the causes and treatments of urinary incontinence and other lower urinary tract dysfunctions.
  • Traumatology of the Genitourinary Tract
    Learn how to manage trauma affecting the genitourinary system.
  • Neurogenic Bladder
    Study the causes and treatments of bladder dysfunction caused by neurological disorders.

All seminars are available as e-learning presentations on the online platform. It is essential that you review these materials prior to practical classes.

Practical Classes

Practical experience is a key part of this course. You will be actively involved in various clinical environments, allowing you to apply the knowledge gained during seminars. Here’s what you’ll be doing:

  • The Ward
    Get hands-on experience by working closely with patients under the supervision of urology specialists.
  • Operating Theater
    Observe and assist in real-time surgical procedures, learning essential operating room protocols and techniques.
  • Surgical Treatment of Urolithiasis
    Engage in the surgical management of urolithiasis, with a focus on advanced techniques.
  • One-Day Clinic / Outpatient
    Learn how to manage and treat patients in an outpatient clinic setting.

You are expected to attend 100% of the practical classes. If for any reason you cannot attend, please notify the course coordinator as soon as possible. Absences can only be made up by joining another student group, and rescheduling is allowed only in exceptional circumstances with prior approval.

How Will You Be Assessed?

The course will conclude with an electronic exam for 4th-year students. Here are the key details:

  • The exam will consist of 30 single-choice questions.
  • You will have 30 minutes to complete the exam.
  • A passing grade requires a score of at least 60%.
  • You will take the exam at the Didactic Center building (ul. Trojdena 2a) on a date that will be agreed upon with students.

Grading Scale:

  • Less than 18 points: 2.0 (failed)
  • 18-21 points: 3.0 (satisfactory)
  • 22-24 points: 3.5 (rather good)
  • 25-26 points: 4.0 (good)
  • 27-28 points: 4.5 (more than good)
  • 29-30 points: 5.0 (very good)

  • Class Regulations:
    Attendance is mandatory for all practical classes. Make sure you are familiar with the e-learning materials before coming to class. Clinical work requires appropriate attire, including scrubs and hospital shoes. Mobile phones are strictly forbidden in the operating theater.
